Your HVAC system’s air ducts functions behind the scenes, carrying warm and cool air to every room of your home and keeping you and your loved ones comfortable year-round. Over time, the ducts themselves collect dirt, debris and airborne pathogens that are then spread throughout the rest of your home.
Contaminated ducts are not only a potential health hazard, but can also have a significant impact on your HVAC system’s efficiency. When ducts and vents are partially blocked by dust and dirt, the system has to use that much more energy to perform its job, and this can end up costing you money on your monthly utility bills.
Fortunately, FS Renovations offers professional air duct services to keep them clean and your HVAC working at its full potential so you and your family can breathe easy and save on energy costs!
Contact us today to schedule an air duct inspection and cleaning to get your HVAC system running efficiently and improve your indoor air quality.
Types of Cleaning
GENERAL CLEANING
With general cleaning we use advanced technology negative air pressure machines. We hook these machines up to your main return that has access to all of the ductwork. With negative air pressure and powerful suction, these machines remove all loose dust, dirt and debris into this specialized vacuum with HEPA filters.
DEEP CLEANING
The second option is our deep cleaning method. We use Rotobrush Brush Beast™ and Rotobrush XP™ machines. These are $10k machines and are the most thorough, efficient and safe machines in the industry for air duct cleaning where we go into each duct and break up any stuck-on dirt and debris on the walls of the duct safely. This is a more thorough process leaving your ducts clean 100%. A deep cleaning is necessary when it has been approximately 5 years or more since last cleaning or there is a significant buildup of dirt/dust/debris stuck to the inside walls of the ducts.
Our technicians will inspect your ducts (air handler/blower/coils/plenum as well if needed) and take photos to see the exact conditions of your ducts before performing any work. After consulting with you and reviewing the photos of your ducts you can choose the proper method of cleaning your system requires.
Air Duct Inspection
Just like any other part of your home, your ducts experience wear and tear over time that can result in significant damage and impede their overall functioning. The ducts may become separated at the seams or develop holes or gaps that allow air to escape and unwanted contaminants to enter, wasting energy and diminishing your air quality.
Though there are some telltale signs that could indicate an issue in your air ducts (a spike in energy usage, a foul odor from your vents, etc.), the best way to make sure they are in peak condition is to have a professional thoroughly examine them. At FS Renovations, our team of air quality experts provides comprehensive inspections to ensure your ducts are clean and working properly. Following the inspection, we can provide you with a free estimate to remedy any issues we uncover.
AIR DUCT REPAIR
Our team has extensive experience repairing all kinds of ductwork materials, from sheet metal to fiberglass and flex ducts, and we can find a lasting solution that keeps your ducts airtight and your HVAC system working at full capacity.
If you know or suspect your air ducts are damaged, don’t hesitate! Every day you use your heating or air conditioning without repairing it, it is costing you both energy and money.
Why is it Important to Clean Your Air Ducts?
Air ducts play a very vital role in your home. They circulate air from the heating and cooling systems to all rooms in the house, maintaining comfort throughout the year. When neglected, the ducts may accumulate dust particles, pollen, mold, and other debris. Once you turn on the HVAC system, it recirculates the pollutants, which impact the comfort of your house and affects your family member’s health. You, therefore, need to clean the ductwork often to prevent pollutant buildup.
If you are unsure when the last time your air ducts were cleaned or its time for your duct cleaning, call us, and schedule a duct cleaning now and get back to a cleaner home.
Frequently Asked Questions We Receive About Air Duct Cleaning
Here are the most asked questions we receive in DFQ area.
Why should I get my air ducts cleaned? Over time, dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and other contaminants can accumulate inside your air ducts. Cleaning these ducts can improve your indoor air quality, reduce allergens and irritants, help your HVAC system run more efficiently, and potentially alleviate allergy and asthma symptoms.
How do I know if my air ducts need cleaning? Some signs that your air ducts might need cleaning include visible dust buildup around vents, musty or stale odors when the HVAC system is running, an increase in allergy symptoms, unexplained respiratory issues, or if you’ve recently completed renovations or moved into a new home.
How often should I have my air ducts cleaned? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but generally, it’s recommended to have your air ducts cleaned every 3 to 5 years. However, if you have pets, smokers in the household, allergies or asthma, or have recently undergone construction, you might consider more frequent cleaning.
What does the air duct cleaning process involve? A professional air duct cleaning typically involves using specialized equipment to loosen and remove debris from within the ducts. This often includes high-powered vacuums with HEPA filtration and various brushes and tools to agitate and dislodge contaminants. Some companies may also sanitize or deodorize the ducts after cleaning.
Is air duct cleaning messy? Professional air duct cleaning companies take precautions to minimize mess. They typically use containment methods and vacuum systems that vent outside to prevent dust and debris from spreading throughout your home. You might see some hoses and equipment, but the process should not result in significant dust or disruption.
What are the benefits of having my air ducts cleaned? The potential benefits include improved indoor air quality, reduced allergens and irritants, a cleaner and healthier living environment, more efficient HVAC system operation (potentially leading to lower energy bills), and the elimination of unpleasant odors.
Can I clean my air ducts myself? While you can clean the vents and registers in your home, cleaning the entire duct system effectively requires specialized equipment and knowledge. DIY attempts may not thoroughly remove contaminants and could even stir them up and worsen your indoor air quality. It’s best to rely on professional services for comprehensive duct cleaning.
How long does an air duct cleaning service take? The duration of an air duct cleaning service can vary depending on the size of your home, the complexity of your ductwork, and the level of contamination. It typically takes anywhere from a few hours to a full day.
Will air duct cleaning get rid of mold in my ducts? Professional air duct cleaning can remove mold growth in ductwork. However, it’s crucial to address the underlying moisture problem that caused the mold in the first place to prevent it from returning. A reputable company should not only clean the mold but also advise on identifying and resolving the moisture source.
